I am not much of a potty mouth but tonight I wanted to talk about one of the most reviled four letter words around! I am of course referring to the word diet. Now diet can simply refer to what you are eating, as in “my diet consists of leafy greens, complex carbs” etc. But generally when I am chatting with people and the word diet is bandied about, it is in regards to “being on a diet” . Specifically, a weight loss diet. If I could impart one piece of wisdom, it would be…don’t go on a diet!! Not only is there no one diet that will work for every one, there are really not any diets that “work” for anyone. I can’t count how many times I have heard someone say that such and such diet works for them every time they “go on it”. Well, if that diet was in fact working, it would only need to be used once. If you have to go back on it because the weight came back then the diet failed.The best way to lose weight and to keep it off is to make small sustainable changes that fit in to your lifestyle.
