In recognition of todays release of “Fed Up” the movie ( which should be required viewing for everyone ) , I thought I would revisit the issue of diets. To start I will just toss out a few aphorisms from Michael Pollan et al. “Don’t fuel your body at the same place you fuel your vehicle” In other words, if you can buy it at a convenience store it probably is not good for you. “Try to eat sunshine rather than fossil fuel” means eating things that have been grown not created in a factory. “If it has a commercial, don’t eat it” Self explanatory. There are a lot more but I think you get my point. Make every effort to eat whole, unprocessed foods with few ingredients, don’t believe label claims such as “healthy”, “low fat” “whole grain” “gluten free” etc, buy foods from as close to home as you can and don’t beat yourself up for not achieving perfection. The food industry has billions invested in making sure you continue to make poor choices, you are not alone.Do your best, take baby steps, create small habits one at a time. You can do it. Any questions, feel free to get in touch and remember, I am listening.
